Home > Projects > Job training for women displaced by civil war, Abidjan, Ivory Coast (2011-2012)

Need

Following an earlier civil war, a second civil war took place in Ivory Coast in 2010-2011. It displaced people, closed schools and halted economic activity, including in the capital, Abidjan.

Action/results

Following the war, LINCCO funded six months of data processing training for 50 young women who had not been able to attend school during the civil war so they could find work.

LINCCO also funded health care services for 300 more women along with training in the prevention of common diseases, hygiene, nutrition and the causes of infant mortality. One hundred and fifty children were treated for injuries. test
